ANDREI STRELIAEV
Biography

Andrei Streliaev was born in Riga, Latvia. He holds Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from J.Vitols Latvian Academy of Music, Advanced Certificate in Harpsichord Performance and Master of Music Degree in Organ Performance from the University of Toronto.

As pianist and organist Andrei has performed in Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Sweden, France and the United States of America, participated in festivals and competitions including B.Dvarionas International Competition for Young Pianists in Vilnius, Lithuania (Diploma) and Concours International de Piano Maryse Cheilan in Hyeres, France (First Award).
Since he moved to Canada in 2002, Andrei has been a very active performer, both on piano and organ, as well as on harpsichord. He appeared in solo recitals, as well as collaborative artist with many performers and ensembles including John Laing Singers, Exultate Chamber Singers, Toronto Masque Theatre, the University of Toronto Percussion Ensemble and McMillan Singers, and has participated in numerous festivals and competitions. In 2003 Andrei has won the 1st Prize in Organ Category of Canadian Music Competition and 2nd Prize at RCCO Toronto Centre Competition for Young Organists in 2004.

Andrei also enjoys working on silent film music, and has accompanied silent movies in Riga and Toronto, most recently at “Nuit Blanche” in Toronto.

Currently Andrei is enrolled in Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ performance program at the University of Toronto. He serves as assistant organist at St. Jude’s Anglican Church in Oakville, works as accompanist at the Faculty of Music of the University of Toronto and the Oakville School of Dance, and accompanies the Royal Academy of Dance examinations on a regular basis.

Andrei started playing for ballet when he moved to Canada in 2002, and it has been his passion ever since. He is thrilled with the opportunity to play at Genée International Ballet Competition.
